Wireless Technologies for critical network communications

CommTel delivers carrier-grade wireless communication technologies designed for mission-critical and business-critical networks across utilities, rail, oil and gas, mining, and emergency services. CommTel wireless technology portfolio comprises Digital Microwave Radio, Land Mobile Radio platforms of TETRA / P25 / DMR / VHF and UHF, private LTE and 5G networks and Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS). These technologies are architected to support point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, and multipoint-to-multipoint communication models, enabling scalable and resilient wireless topologies across wide-area, corridor-based, and confined operational environments.

Digital Microwave Radio systems provide high-capacity, low-latency wireless transport for operational backhaul where fibre is unavailable or impractical. Architectures incorporate protected and ring topologies, adaptive modulation, frequency diversity, and path redundancy to deliver predictable throughput and fast restoration under adverse weather, terrain, and interference conditions. These systems are widely used to support protection, control, telemetry, and operational data transport.

Land Mobile Radio (LMR) technologies deliver mission-critical voice communications with instant call setup, group calling, priority access, and high service availability. These platforms are engineered for wide-area coverage, linear corridors, and remote sites, supporting operational voice, dispatch, and emergency coordination for rail operations, utilities field crews, industrial sites, and first responders.

Private LTE and 5G technologies extend wireless capability to broadband and low-latency data services. Architectures are designed to support quality-of-service enforcement, traffic prioritisation, and secure operational segregation, enabling applications such as SCADA, real-time monitoring, live video, workforce mobility, autonomous systems, and industrial IoT.

Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS) provide seamless radio and cellular coverage within tunnels, stations, control rooms, processing plants, underground mines, and other RF-challenged environments. DAS architectures are engineered to ensure continuity of communications for both routine operations and emergency scenarios.

All wireless technologies are engineered for ruggedised operation, regulatory compliance, and predictable performance. Design considerations include spectrum efficiency, interference management, redundancy, and deterministic latency.
